More Good/Fun Stuff

1.  No deadlines, not imminent ones anyway.

2.  Getting a workout in everyday this week.  I can barely sit down my legs are so sore, but that's beside the point.  Loving the gym time right now.

3. The things Ella and Luke say:

a) Reversing out of the parking lot Ella shouts, "Watch out for that old man, Mom.  He's going to die soon".

b) In the hairdressers, Luke approaches me and asks in a quiet voice (thankfully) why the lady grabbing a coffee behind us has "trash on her head"

4.  Good + Soup = Goup a.k.a 2 cups of cooked veggies + 1/2 cup organic chicken stock in the blender with a sprinkling of salt and pepper. Also loving these.

5.  Belated Birthday card from Cassie.  So flippin' funny!  She cracks me up....You have to have been following my blog to get it?

Cassiehb

6.  Movie from my friend Jacqui, who met in England, and now lives in Utah. Mom to 6 this is Josh's work.  Love it!

7.  Despite being 17F in the a.m. when I get in the car (the bikes have taken priority in the garage) we're getting those beautiful break-up evenings, which only means one thing.  Heading out around the block after dinner.

8.  This book by Sophie Kinsella.  It was left behind at my sisters boyfriends place in Florida, and almost done reading it.  It's made me laugh out loud a few times.  Might just read a few more of her books.

9. Finishing up my Florida 2007 Album.  One of my favorite pages so far that will be going into a Shutterfly photo book

10.  The Digital Scrapbooking Mag in my hands.  So proud to be part of the team.

GOOD

It's that time of year when one birthday seems to follow the next, and it's more complicated this year as our circle of friends begins to leave Alaska in succession.

Ronalyn organized dinner at our fave sushi hangout where I got to catch up with friends.  I hadn''t seen Lori or Melissa since before I went to Florida and so it's been a good 2 months.  Even Ronalyn hadn't seen them either.  Lori is looking fabulous with the color back in her cheeks and Melissa's new born is now a cute and chubby 3 months.  Keri was also there.  It's been about a year since we hung and so it was GOOD.  So good in fact we're doing it all over again in 2 weeks.  Love these ladies who sang happy birthday to me.  This clip is my fave.

Saturday, we had clearings in the morning.  I am now finished and only 4 left each for Ella and Luke.  Luke had his first birthday party on Saturday and then Eric and I enjoyed a late dinner downtown Anchorage.  It's been a while since we've had any time together.  Good to catch up and reconnect.  Ronalyn watched E & L for us which of course Ella adored.  She loves any opportunity to be with her beloved Isabel.

Sunday, the Easter Bunny came which was a lot of fun.  Luke didn't even notice the small gifts under the Easter tree or the eggs EB had hidden, at least not at first.  He was patient though and waited til Ella came downstairs.  GOOD fun!

It was also Melissa's surprise birthday over at Ronalyn's, except we missed the surprise.  Luke fell asleep right before 3.00pm and it took us longer to get out the door than we anticipated.  It was GOOD to hang out (and eat Ronalyn's ribs ~ We all LOVE her ribs) but I was tired.  I'm not used to all this excitement.  Though reading back through this post I bet not quite as tired as Ronalyn!

12504 Days

a.k.a 33 years.

32

That's how old I am today.

It's been a quiet day. Luke had a rough time with his clearing last night.  In fact both E & L were up meaning I was up and down all night long.  As a result, I've spent the day in somewhat of a daze.

It's been quiet with some personal scrapbooking and a lot of self-reflection. E and L have been at school and Eric has been sleeping for his night shift tonight, so the day has been my own.

I baked a little cake this evening with Ella when she came home from school and I had happy birthday sung to me after dinner. Ella's closing words made me smile, " I really liked your birthday party Mommy". Me too :)

Some footage a la Eric:

I made it so I may as take a picture of it, right?

Good Memories

It's been quiet at home this past few days with E & L back at their respective schools.  I've been looking back on the little Flip clips I've taken and have been smiling to myself.

We had a good time this Spring Break.

One of the things we do here in Anchorage as a special treat is go to the Harvest Bakery.  I like to get myself a soy chai and the children always ask for a slice of cinnamon chip bread, hence the special treat.  One of the best things about this place is that EVERYONE who comes through their door gets a free slice of bread.  It's a cool place.

They also do fun stuff with the children over the holidays.  For Easter the children got the following pictures to color.  We took them back in, where they are hung on the wall and E & L got a cookie each (which they tossed aside in favor of a slice of bread...But that is beside the point.)

Ella was set on feathers for her "genie bunny rabbit", and thankfully I just happened to have some on hand under my kitchen sink...Seriously...Don't ask.  LOVE that she's now writing her name in "cursive" (Her words.  Not mine.)

Luke's words "I makin' it messy" still resonate in my ears.  When I asked what he was doing that for?  He responded. "Cause I wike it, wike it".  Of course!  Now I should have known that.

Img_6714lr

I had to take pictures of them.  I totally didn't want to give these little beauties up!

And I love this...Just everyday moments only their mommy gets.

Oh! And I notice they have one in Denver...

Heading off to the gym in the a.m.  I'm getting into a really good routine.  Really hoping I can start running again when I get to Denver.  I used to run every day before Ella and Luke but then they came along and then we've been living in this Arctic climate with all kinds of bears and moose that can get you in the summer...Denver could prove to be a good stomping ground.

More clearing tomorrow for E & L.  I'm done now and they are getting REALLY close.

Really great week so far.

New ART +

It's been a bit hectic around here as I've been enjoying the last few days of Spring Break with E and L.  Will be back later to give a little update on our antics.

In the meantime, heading off for an Easter photos.   My friend Allie has started a photography business her in Anchorage and has some of those little colored chicks in for the shoot.  You might have known Luke would fall this morning and bust his lip.  All I can say is typical!

New ART in the DD store this morning :)  Enjoy!

Spring Break

I usually dread Spring Break.  Not becasue I don't like having my family home, I just have to become super-efficient in an attempt to morph and play both rolls of a Stay and Work-At-Home-Mom.  Perhaps it's the clearings or that I have been more realistic in what can be achieved in one day, but this Spring Break seems to be a LOT more relaxed.

Eric is also home studying for his Master Sergeant test on Thursday so we've been having some quality family time.  We haven't really done anything special but it's just the idea of being all at home and together that I like.  Ella is heavily into scrapbooking again and, now a little older, she's getting the idea you start with cardstock, add the photos and then cut pieces of patterned paper to fit the page.  Luke has also taken an interest and created his own little masterpiece.  We've had the paints out and everything... I'm kind of sad that we're already half way through.

The Flip

Had some fun with it at the pool yesterday.  Managed to capture Ella swimming part of the width of the base pool.  Not bad for my first attempt, though it would have helped if I didn't have Luke leaning on my arm.  Hence the commentary.

Then most of yesterday afternoon we had a bull moose hanging out across the street on a neighbours lawn.  I had to smile at Eric.  He fancies himself as some sort of nature buff ;)

Fun stuff!
