The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

I've just returned back from the DSM Strategy and Planning Meet at the CK Media building in Utah.  What fun!  We all worked and played really hard.  Now I'm exhausted but grateful for such a productive and creatively energizing experience.  It was also quite the novelty being on a plane for less than 6 hours ;)

So thrown back into daily life today, it has been one of highs and lows:

The Good:

The Air Force promotion lists came out today and we were thrilled to learn Eric made Master Sergeant.

The Bad:

We received a call from our mortgage broker today telling us that the appraisal on our house hasn't been done and therefore the closing we expected to take place tomorrow might not happen.  To cut a long story short all the corporate big wigs are now involved and we are now a priority thanks to the end of the second fiscal quarter looming... I'll keep you posted.

The Ugly:

Looking at photos and reminiscing... Renee and I playing with Photobooth on her Mac yesterday.  Tears were streaming down my face.  I can't remember when I laughed so hard.  I literally laughed my head off ;)  Yet another reason I need to convert to Mac...

Update

Life has been CRAZY of late, hence, the delinquency in the blogging department.

So far we are LOVING Denver.  It's warm, beautiful, friendly and there is so much to see and do.  What is not to love?

This week has been spent juggling work, family time and shopping for the essentials we need for our new home.  This is our first time owning a home so we're starting from scratch in terms of appliances.  Can I say that shopping for appliances is nowhere near the fun as a trip to Anthropolgie or the likes.

I have been busy finishing my classes for the Paper and Co Show this coming October.  I've spiffed them up incorporating the lessons learned from last year, and Wacom are providing Bamboos for use in the classes.  It's going to be a GOOD time.   Just a little excited.

Yesterday, it was all about Ella and Luke.  They have been dragged from one place to the next over the past few weeks and they have been REALLY good about it.  We took them to Elitch Gardens which is like a Six Flags almost in Downtown Denver.  We had a blast!

Leaving Las Vegas

..was another sad event.  We had a really good week with my friend Dena and her family.

Ella found it particular hard.  She found a friend in Dena's son, Cole, and she couldn't quite grasp why we had to say goodbye again.

We arrived in Denver late Monday night and headed out to look at the progress of our new house on Tuesday.  Everything seems to be moving along nicely, however, my heart is not quite in it yet and is lost somewhere between Alaska and here.

Eric took me to one of the two local sushi joints in Aurora, the Blue Koi.  It was a relief to know the food is equally as good (if not better) than Dami's and they cater really well for children.  We dropped E & L off with Grandma after lunch and went shopping at one of our favourite malls in Denver, Park Meadows

They seriously have it all here.  So different to what we are used to in Alaska.  We browsed for furniture and I couldn't resist a peek in my fave store, Anthropologie.  Quite fortuitiously they were having a sale and Eric was enthusiastic about getting me into the store.  He knows there is nothing like a little splurge to lift my spirits.

I can't remember the last time we spent the afternoon together, without children, just hanging out.  Just me and him.  It was NICE.

More Las Vegas +

It's Sunday which means new products at Designer Digitals.  I was busy in the weeks running up to the move making sure I had enough product to get me through the transition.  Enjoy!

Eric arrived in Denver last night after a 3000+ mile drive.  I'm excited to see the photos.  I wish I had been able to the trip with him but it just wasn't a feasible to expect E & L to sit in a car for 5 days straight.

In the meantime, we've been swimming day and night.

Las Vegas

Been a little A.W.A.L  (a military term meaning Absent without Authroized Leave) this past week.

It was incredibly hard to say goodbye to everything we've called home for the past 4 years.  Not only was it the longest I have lived in one place but it's also the place where I feel I have "grown" the most.  The military has a way of breaking life up into chapters and I think that I went to Hell and back in this one.  I was supported by a group of ladies and was able to support them through a series of events we collectively call "big grown-up stuff".  In a nutshell I will miss them.  I will miss it all.

I've been taking some time to decompress and allow myself some time to get through the raw stage. Still working on the last one.  In the meantime, we've been getting used to the 50F temp increase and enjoying time by the pool.  I'm staying with my friend Dena, who I met on-line just under 6 years ago.  We were both digital scrapbookers and on the HP Design Team together before it was disbanded.  Since then we've both moved and have had 2 more children between us.  We don't get to see each other too often so we've been enjoying the time catching up in the sunshine and over a little scrapping.

Other "ticks on our board" include: Town Center Shopping Center (where I almost bought a MAC so I can ichat with R.), Rainforest Cafe, and Red Rock Canyon. Fun stuff even with 4 children in tow.
