Layout | This double- page spread documents 2 different stories with 2 different techniques.
The first page documents a special moment between Eric and Luke earlier this Summer. The journaling was completely inspired by Katrina Kennedy's guest post from earlier this week, Creating Photos That Make Your Heart Sing. Instead of taking a photo, I created a page using a photo that makes my heart sing and documented some of the thoughts and feelings that it conjures up for me. Notice also, how I have also re-introduced the re-curring theme of my album, simple Summer connections, which first appeared in my Six Word Story.

The journaling reads:
This photo was taken in May, just as it was warming up in Colorado providing a glimpse of what what Summer 2011 might look like. Love the anticipation and promise of what might be in the months ahead. This photo also captured a very ordinary but special moment, a simple human connection between Luke and his Dad, and between Eric and his son. These are the moments I want to remember when my mind has forgotten. I want to remember just how much love there is between the four of us. It is the only thing that really matters when all is said and done. These are the moments that define our life and this is the type of image that makes my heart sing. Photo: May 2011, Filed: August 2011
The second page demonstrates a continuation of last weeks Question of Perspective post, where I suggested asking a question or interviewing someone else in order to obtain a story. In this particular page, I am developing this idea further by exploring the option of asking multiple people the same question, or series of questions, in order to create a fun comparison of answers.
Typically each person would provide a different answer enabling you to include a variety of perspectives on a page, however, this can back-fire on you, as demonstrated in the second page of my double-page spread. I asked Eric, Ella and Luke to tell me about their favorite part of a recent day trip to Elitches in Denver. They all gave the same answer, which was not what I expected, but I made it work by having Luke illustrate what he remembered and adding that to my page. Look for my next newsletter with step-by-step instructions which will explain how to do this.
Journaling reads:
Daddy | Spending time with the family and seeing Mommy's face when she came down the water slide. That was absolutely priceless.
Ella | Going to the wave pool and hearing Mommy go Aaaahhhhhaaaayyyyyaaaahhh!
Luke | When Mommy was like aaaawwwwwwwhhhhhhhh, as illustrated below.
Mommy | While I didn't enjoy coming down the referenced water slide, the rest of family seemed to revel in my shock at the experience. Totally reminds me of the times when we used to do the same to my Mum. I love this connection between one generation and the next.
You will also notice that I have added some currently in-style Instagram format photos to this page. I don't always lug my camera wherever I go and rely heavily on my iPhone 3 in these situations. The quality of these photos is not nearly as good as those taken with my SLR so I prefer to keep them small. You may have taken photos with apps such as Instagram or Hipstamatic and these can be added directly to your pages as shown in the layouts below.

You can also make your iPhone photos look like they were taken with an app by using digital frames. In page 2 of my double-page spread, I used a collection of frames from FotoBlendz Layered Template Album No. 3.

I also like to use use the following templates which can be customized with your own choice of papers and textures. Both of these products will be available on Septemeber 1, 2011 when I open my new store at Oscraps.

In the Project 2011 series of templates, I suggest you place a gathering of overlapping shots where 2 of the paper/photo masks meet.

Process | This week I invite you to create a page that makes your heart sing and/or use the same interviewing technique on multiple participants to illicit different views on the same event. Use the information provided in previous Project 2011 posts to assemble the layout using the template that will be delivered to AnnaNews subscribers later this weekend.
You might also like to experiment in adding iPhone photos that you have taken throughout the series to one or more pages. Don't have an iPhone? Mimic the Instagram or Hipstamatic look by using digital frames with optional Photoshop actions of your choosing.

Please post your links for your completed pages in the comments section of this post. Next week I'll be wrapping up this series with the first and last templates for your album, as well as a closing post.
