My double-page spread for Week 5 combines Template 5 from FotoInspired Template Pack No. 2A and Template 9 from FotoInspired Template Pack No. 2B. I also incorporated the following techniques.
- Replace Frames. Replace the existing frames in the templates with those from PersonalizedFrames No. 2, which will enable you to easily number and add a date to the frames as well as provide a brief title/description. I converted the frame on the left side of the spread to white.
- Replace Masks. Exchanging one larger mask for 2 smaller ones from FotoInspired Masks No. 1 enabled me to include more photos in my layout. Rotate and resize the masks as needed.
- Emphasize. Stamp ArtsyPaint brushes on a new layer between the background and clipped mask layers to emphasize edges and create separation between 2 light-colored elements. I used ArtsyPaint No. 2, which will release on Friday, February 8, 2013, but you can also use ArtsyPaint No. 1 to achieve the same effect. I also these brushes directly on some of the masks to refine the details of the clipped images.
- Mix and Match. Use a combination of black/white and color photos to prevent your MultiFoto layout from looking too busy. You can also use photo-editing actions to create cohesive color across multiple images. I used My 4 Hens Photography Fable Collection (Sterling and Capulet).
- Artsy Photo Effects. Clip a FotoGlow to a photo and apply the blanding mode of your choice (in this case Vivid Light) to create interest over white space such as an area of sky as demonstrated in the top right corner of my double-page spread.
- LayerStyles. Pre-made Layer Styles speed up the task of creating realistic dimension on embellishments. I created AnnaStyle Drop Shadows exactly for this purpose.
- Stitching. Add more stitching to your layout in a variety of styles. I combined the new BrushSet-style UrbanStitchez No. 1 with the existing stitched frame elements included with the templates.
